About this website: The Center for
Real-Time GPS Data and Environmental Products is being proposed as a NASA Earth Science
REASoN (Research, Education and Applications Solutions Network) Data and Information Provider.
The purpose of this website is to present information about the proposed Center,
details of the proposed products and services, and active links to relevant real-time
and near-real-time demonstrations utilizing the existing GDGPS system.
If the Center becomes operational, this website will evolve into the Center's
web-based interface.

Introduction
The Center for Real-Time GPS Data and Environmental Products (the Center) will
transform NASA's unique Global Differential GPS (GDGPS) system from a proof-of-concept
prototype into a robust, self-sustaining Service Center, with unparalleled capability to
collect, synthesize and disseminate the diverse data from GPS and other Earth monitoring
platforms that are increasingly available in real-time. We will offer a broad array of real-time
products and services that will usher in a new capability to anticipate, assess, and respond to
environmental changes that occur on short time scales, such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions,
hurricanes, and weather in general. The Center will enable the monitoring of the Earth observing
platforms themselves, and the timely calibration, quality control, and dissemination of their
science data. This effort represents a significant leap in the fundamental capabilities of the Earth
Science Enterprise to observe, monitor, and interpret the Earth. The broad science, national, and
civil benefits extend well beyond NASA. Of particular note is the unparalleled capability for
real-time monitoring of the performance of the GPS constellation itself. This capability will
result in profound national benefits because of the key role GPS plays in our national security
and every-day life.
The emerging solid customer base for the GDGPS real-time products, which includes
commercial companies, NASA missions, and non-NASA Government agencies, is a clear
indication of the need for the development of a center for real-time GPS data and products, with
excellent prospects for self-sustenance, and high return on investment value.
